"The President held a meeting on the current issues of the country’s economy, as well as various aspects of medium-term development," Peskov said on Friday.
The meeting was held late on Thursday night and was attended by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev and Russia's Central Bank head Elvira Nabiullina, among others.
Earlier on Thursday, Peskov announced that Putin would discuss the economic situation in the country with a tight circle of officials.
Russian economy suffered a setback in 2014, as the ruble lost about half of its value against the dollar amid low global oil prices and Western economic sanctions imposed against Russia over the situation in Ukraine.
Last month, Russian Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said the country’s economy might see renewed growth in 2016.
