MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Russian government has allocated an equivalent of $51.9 million across 79 regions to offer farming sector development grants, the cabinet website published a decree on Tuesday.
"The signed decree distributes grants in the amount of 3.9 billion rubles to be provided from the federal budget in 2016 to the subjects of 79 subjects of the [Russian] Federation to co-finance spending commitments to provide grants for the creation and development of a peasant (farming) economy," the decree states.
Stavropol Territory in southwest Russia receives $2.3 million, followed by the Republic of Tatarstan with $907,000, then Krasnodar Territory and Moscow regions at $400,000 each.
The Tyumen Region further east is allocated $80,000, according to the decree.
The Agriculture Ministry estimates the subsidies’ efficiency every year on the basis of performance indicators defined by its agreements with individual regional powers.
