While some of you probably spent the holiday season on your coach in front of the TV, Russian President Vladimir Putin put his skates on to attend a hockey training session in Sochi.

The training session took place in Galaxy, one of Sochi's ice arenas, in Krasnaya Polyana. The Russian President trained under the number 11.

Putin mastered ice hockey relatively recently. He began training in 2011 after making a promise to the participants of the Russian youth hockey team.

Although hockey isn't Putin's best sport, the President managed to score a goal following a scramble near the net.

The last time Putin took to the ice was back in October when the Russian leader played hockey with some legends of the sport on his birthday.

Putin played on the same team as hockey legends Pavel Bure and Vyacheslav Fetisov, as well as Russia's Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Putin scored seven goals during the game and made sure his team won.
