"High responsibility lies on the counterintelligence officers. This year they have identified more than 320 foreign special services’ staff personnel, agents and their accomplices," Putin said in a speech dedicated to the Russian National Security Services Day.
According to the Russian leader, foreign spy agencies are currently building up their activities in the country.
Putin expressed confidence that the employees of the Russian security agencies were ready to give this challenge an "adequate response."
"I am also looking forward to your effective action in such areas as border protection, the fight against corruption, economic crimes," the president stressed.
According to Putin, the state security and military bodies should coordinate their work to build up the capacity of the Russian Armed Forces.
