IAC Expects Russia to Announce Need to Fix Altitude Systems on Boeing 737
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Boeing Сompany will meet Friday with Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) to discuss the reasons for its 737 model being suspended from use in Russia by the Interstate Aviation Committee, a Boeing communications officer for Russia/CIS told Sputnik on Friday.

On Thursday, the IAC withdrew licenses for the operation of Boeing 737 jets in Russia. According to the IAC, it was concerned about the safe functioning of such Boeing aircraft's flight control systems, in particular its elevators, which regulate the aircraft’s pitch. The Committee added that suspension of operation of this model would be in place until Rosaviatsia and the US Federal Aviation Administration have submitted a joint confirmation that the Boeing 737s operating in Russia conform to safety standards.

“Boeing representatives are going to meet with the Russian aviation authorities, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency Rosaviatsia, later today to discuss the reasons for what has happened,” the spokesperson said.
