Airlifter With Bodies of A-321 Crash Victims Arrives in St. Petersburg

A Russian Emergencies Ministry airlifter with the bodies of flight 2968 victims arrived in the Russian city of St. Petersburg from Cairo, a RIA Novosti reported.

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) — The bodies will be identified in St. Petersburg, where the doomed aircraft was bound from the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh in the biggest civil aviation tragedy in Soviet and Russian history.

First Flight With A321 Crash Victims Leaves for St. Petersburg

Over 200 DNA samples have been gathered among victims’ relatives to assist in the identification process.

On Saturday, the Russian Kogalymavia Airbus A-321 passenger airliner, with 217 passengers and seven crew members on board, crashed in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, leaving no survivors.

The Russian Il-76 aircraft, with the bodies of those killed are on board left Cairo on late Sunday, according to the Emergencies Ministry.
