Over 5,500 Terrorists Sentenced, 2,000 Eliminated in 10 Years in Russia
More than 5,500 terrorists were sentenced to various prison terms, while over 2,000 were eliminated in special operations in the past decade in Russia, Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said Saturday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Investigative Committee spokesman added that all terrorist attacks, which had taken place in Russia recently were thwarted.
"In the past ten years alone, more than 5,500 terrorists and their accomplices were sentenced to various terms of punishment. More than 2,000 criminals were eliminated during special operations," Markin said on Channel One.

The latest terrorist attack plot was uncovered in recent days.
According to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), the perpetrators wanted to detonate bombs in Moscow and kill Russian citizens to put pressure on the Kremlin to stop Russian airstrikes in Syria against ISIL.
Twelve people were detained in connection with the case.
