Russia has sent invitations to numerous world leaders, inviting them to attend the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9 in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany and the end of World War II.
Representatives of at least 25 states have confirmed their attendance, according to Kremlin chief of staff Sergei Ivanov.
Several European leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, have declined an invitation citing Russia's alleged involvement in the Ukrainian crisis.
