Rossiya Segodnya’s special photo correspondent has won Honorable Mention for the series The Hunting at the international competition The Best of Photojournalism 2015.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) Rossiya Segodnya’s special photo correspondent Ramil Sitdikov has won Honorable Mention for the series The Hunting at the international competition The Best of Photojournalism 2015, a project of the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA).

The Hunting was taken in the fall of 2014 during a search for an organized crime gang that committed a series of ruthless killings of drivers in the Moscow Region. Sitdikov took photos of the group of Moscow street-racers and volunteers, who patrolled the roads of the Moscow Region. "They went ‘hunting' almost every weekend," Sitdikov said. "And covered 300-400 kilometers per night on Moscow Region roads, searching gas stations, desolate stretches of roads and anywhere that seemed suspicious."

The Best of Photojournalism (BOP) international photojournalism competition was created by "photojournalists for photojournalists." The contest is held under the auspices of the NPPA and is one of the most prestigious photojournalism contests in the world. The competition’s committee consists of renowned photographers, editors and teachers of visual journalism.
