During the exercises, Russian troops conducted a counter-terrorist operation against a simulated enemy and foiled a "terrorist attack".

A task unit of the Russian Armed Forces in Moldova’s Transnistria region held a counter-terrorism exercise, the press office for the Western Military District reported.

"According to the plan, a group of 'extremists' tried to conduct terrorist attacks and take hostages in the area of unit deployment. On an alarm signal, counter-terrorist forces launched an operation. The 'terrorists' impersonated by unit troops were defeated and prevented from conducting attacks," the district said.
