MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Russian Defence Ministry board will hold a meeting on Monday dedicated to the issue of security in the Republic of Crimea, the ministry's press service informed RIA Novosti.
"In accordance with the agenda the issues related to the implementation of measures aimed at ensuring the security of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Crimea Federal District and the action plan of Aerospace Defense Forces up until 2020 will be discussed," the ministry's statement said.
The agenda of the meeting also includes the issue of Russian Armed Forces' information and telecommunication technology improvement in the period leading up to 2025.
Crimea rejoined Russia in March 2014 following a referendum in which 96 percent of the peninsula residents voted in favour of the move.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law on the development of the Crimea Federal District and a free economic zone on the territory of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol in November, 2014.
Kiev and the West have labeled Crimea's secession from Ukraine illegal, imposed an economic and travel embargo against Crimea and introduced similar sanctions against Moscow.
