MOSCOW, October 27 (RIA Novosti) — The lawyers of two individuals involved in the criminal case on the fatal air crash of French energy giant chief's plane in Moscow's Vnukovo Airport told RIA Novosti on Monday they appealed the decision on their clients' arrest.

"Today we have filed an appeal on the arrest of [the snowplow driver Vladimir] Martynenko, in which we request higher authorities to release the driver on bail or place him under house arrest," the driver's attorney Alexander Karabanov said.

Alexei Golubev, the lawyer of Vnukovo Airport's leading engineer Vladimir Ledenev, also told RIA Novosti he requested authorities revoke the decision to arrest his client.

Total CEO Christophe de Margerie died in the crash of his business jet on the evening of October 23 at Moscow's Vnukovo-3 Airport along with three crew members, all French citizens. The incident happened when the aircraft, which was to fly to Paris, hit a snow removal vehicle during takeoff.

Besides the snowplow driver and the leading engineer, who was responsible for the removal of snow, the list of suspects in the criminal negligence case includes the airport's flight executive officer, an air traffic control trainee and her supervisor. None of them has admitted guilt.
