MOSCOW, May 20 (RIA Novosti) – Three children were hurt Tuesday in a train collision near Moscow, a spokesperson of the Russian emergency ministry said at a phone conference.

“As of 5 pm [13.00 GMT], there’ve been 29 injured people, including three children. All of them were admitted to medical institutions in Moscow and Naro-Fominsk,” the ministry’s source said.

Earlier reports claimed only one child had been wounded. It is an 11-year-old girl who was hospitalized and is said to be in a moderate-to-severe condition.

Russia’s Health Ministry took the train collision tally to six dead and 29 injured, up from five dead and 25 injured. The country’s deputy emergency minister meanwhile ordered to compile a list of those wounded in the train collision to inform the loving ones of their whereabouts.

Two trains collided in the Moscow region earlier on Tuesday. The accident happened at the railroad line between Naro-Fominsk and Bekasovo, when a freight train derailed and collided into a long-distance passenger train going from Moscow to Chisinau.

According to the preliminary information from the Moscow Transport Department, the collision was caused by a broken rail.
