MOSCOW, May 20 (RIA Novosti) – The Russian Interior Ministry plans to allocate 42 million rubles ($1.2 million) for protecting sensitive data by cryptographic means, according to a request published on a government procurement portal Tuesday.
According to the tender information, the ministry seeks to buy 32 Vesta B-A01 equipment sets, each estimated to cost over 1.3 million rubles ($37,500). The equipment is aimed to facilitate the exchange of documents and voice information over the Internet and digital communication channels including transferring classified data.
The devices are to archive information and delete it after a specified storage period.
The applications for the tender will be accepted until June 5, and the digital auction is scheduled on June 16. The equipment is to be supplied by November 1 to the central resources storage facility near Moscow.
Earlier reports said the ministry decided to earmark 272 million rubles ($7.9 million) for purchases of special devices aimed at preventing information leakage. That digital auction is set for June 9.
