2 Moderate Earthquakes Registered in Russia’s East Siberia

Two moderate earthquakes were registered within a 10-hour interval in Russia’s east Siberian republic of Tyva, the local geophysical service reported on Wednesday.

KYZYL, September 18 (RIA Novosti) - Two moderate earthquakes were registered within a 10-hour interval in Russia’s east Siberian republic of Tyva, the local geophysical service reported on Wednesday.

The first earthquake of 3.1 magnitude was registered on Tuesday night some 150 kilometers (93 miles) to the west of the republic’s capital of Kyzyl and another one of 3.4 magnitude was reported on early Wednesday about 100 kilometers (62 miles) to the northeast of the capital.

There were no reports on casualties or any damage to the infrastructure.

The republic was previously hit with a 6.7 magnitude earthquake in December of 2011 and a 6.8 magnitude quake in February of 2012. No casualties were reported in both cases.
