Investigators suspect an embezzlement of more than 30 million rubles (over $1 million), allocated by the Russian culture ministry for making a movie, a spokesman for the Moscow Investigative Committee department, Sergei Stukalov, said on Friday.

MOSCOW, April 6 (RIA Novosti) - Investigators suspect an embezzlement of more than 30 million rubles (over $1 million), allocated by the Russian culture ministry for making a movie, a spokesman for the Moscow Investigative Committee department, Sergei Stukalov, said on Friday.

According to the spokesman, “unidentified individuals” faked minutes of a general meeting of the Triada-Film company so that it included a decision to close the firm down. The document was subsequently submitted to the Federal Tax Service to record those changes in the list of the unified state register of legal entities.

"According a version by investigators, those actions by unidentified individuals were made to cover another crime - a possible embezzlement of more than 30 million rubles, allocated by the Russian culture ministry to the [Triada-Film] company for making a motion picture,”

The company’s two major shareholders, owning stakes of 55 percent and 10 percent in the company, denied taking part in the alleged general meeting.

A criminal case was launched on charges of attempted falsification of a record in the unified state register of legal entities. An investigation is ongoing.
