On Saturday Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said that the opposition's victory in the Georgian parliamentary election could lead to improved relations between Chechnya and Georgia.

On Saturday Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said that the opposition's victory in the Georgian parliamentary election could lead to improved relations between Chechnya and Georgia.

Georgian Dream coalition headed by Georgian billionaire tycoon Bidzina Ivanishvili won October 1 parliamentary elections. Georgian Dream won 55 percent of the October 1 vote, beating President Mikheil Saakashvili's UNM party, which gained only 40.43 percent, and winning 38 of the constituency seats against UNM's 35.

“We have mountains here and behind these mountains there is Georgia. In what concerns economy if we open the road there is Turkey and further and further; for us this is very profitable. But until there is this man [Saakashvili] we cannot do anything. He looks at Russia and Chechens through binoculars. I hope that people will say what they want and there will be changes. I think there will be some improvement,” Kadyrrov said in the interview to TV channel Rossiya 1.

He added that people in Chechnya like Georgian dances and songs. “We will go there with concerts, for tangerines, oranges. Everything will be ok. We will send Saakashvili to study somewhere behind the ocean and will have a good life.”
