Police have found an arsenal of small arms from the World War II period in a private home in the western Russian city of Bryansk.
"We found five MG-34 machine-guns, two Russian-made Maxims, an MP-40 submachine-gun, 10 foreign- and Russian-made pistols, two 45 mm artillery rounds, two grenades and about 3,000 rounds of assorted ammunition," a police source said.
Experts are examining the weapons, many of which are German-made.
A criminal investigation has been launched. If the owner of the weapons is found guilty of illegal possession of arms, he could face four years in jail.
Bryansk, close to the border with Ukraine, was the scene of some of the biggest battles of World War II.
