Russian President Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton on their marriage on Friday and sent them a decorated lacquer box as a present.
Prince William and Kate Middleton were married at Westminster Abbey at 11:00 local time on Friday in the presence of 1,900 guests, and watched on TV by an estimated two billion viewers.
"I warmly congratulate you on your wedding," Medvedev said in a written message that accompanied a lacquer box decorated with a 19th century Moscow winter scene.
"This day is an event of great importance not only for you but for the entire people of the United Kingdom. May harmony, joy and love always prevail within your family," he wrote.
