    Moscow braces for bitter cold, snow in first week of 2011 - forecast

    The first week of 2011 will bring bone-chilling cold to Russia's capital of Moscow with temperatures dipping to minus 20 degrees Celsius (minus 4 Fahrenheit), Fobos weather center reported on Saturday.

    Starting on January 1, a cold atmospheric front from Scandinavia will begin its path toward Moscow from the northwest, bringing with it snow, heavy in some areas, and a temperature of minus 6 Celsius during the day (21 degrees Fahrenheit).

    On January 4-5 a new front from the White Sea will move into Moscow, bringing temperatures down to minus 13 C, and by January 7, temperatures will drop to minus 20 C with little chance of snowfall.
