The 2-year-old daughter of a doctor, who was killed in a high-profile car crash in February, may sue the vice president of Russia's largest oil company LUKoil, Anatoly Barkov, for his part in the accident, a Moscow investigations department source said on Tuesday.

Two doctors, Vera Sidelnikova, 72, and Olga Alexandrina, 35, were killed on February 25 when their car collided with Barkov's. The executive denied that either he or his driver were at fault.

While CCTV footage is unclear, witnesses said Barkov's Mercedes pulled into the oncoming lane to try to avoid traffic but then collided head-on with the doctors' Citroen. Police initially said the Citroen was to blame and closed the case, but President Dmitry Medvedev ordered an all-round probe into the accident.

Lawyer Igor Trunov said he would make Alexandrina's 2-year-old daughter, Nadia, plaintiff in a wrongful death lawsuit against Barkov after her father, Sergei, 47, who filed the lawsuit, died two weeks ago.

Barkov requested police protection over alleged death threats linked to the case in June.

The accident sparked widespread public outrage, with a sustained media campaign calling for restrictions in the use of flashing blue lights, or migalki, on VIP vehicles that allow drivers to bypass traffic rules.

Accidents involving such vehicles are shockingly common in Moscow, and have spawned an ingenious protest movement, with drivers attaching blue buckets to their cars in mimicry of the official lights. A series of blue bucket demonstrations were held in the Russian capital in April.

The February car accident is the subject of the song "Mercedes S-666" by outspoken rapper Noize MC, who recently spent 10 days in jail for mocking the police. It includes the lyrics: "Get out of the way, plebeian, watch you don't get under my wheels! Hey you group of commoners, patricians are on the road. We're running late for Hell!"
