Russian consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor recommended on Monday residents of the Far Eastern Amur Region to get vaccinated against measles before going to neighboring China.
Measles cases were registered in the Amur Region in April after three infected people entered the area from China. The measles virus strain is different from those usually found in Russia.
A total of 18,500 vaccines against measles were delivered to the region May 4.
Measles has been confirmed in 48 people. Some 14,000 have already been vaccinated.
Those who have not caught measles or not been vaccinated against it can easily contract the disease from infected people.
