President Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday U.S. President Barack Obama is a strong politician, and they have developed genuine relations.
"I believe him to be a strong politician and an interesting person who is nice to deal with," Medvedev said in a live television interview where he gave a review of the outgoing year.
"We have been working together all right, have developed genuine relations. I hope we will keep it this way in the future," Medvedev said.
Medvedev and Obama pledged to "reset" ties between Russia and the United States, which plunged to a Cold-War low under the George W. Bush administration, at their first meeting in April.
They have since held a series of meetings, including a summit in Moscow in July, when they agreed to move on with a new nuclear arms reduction treaty, to join efforts in evaluating missile threats, and signed a deal under which Russia allowed the U.S. to use its airspace to deliver military cargoes for its operations in Afghanistan.
Obama has also sought Russian support for possible tougher sanctions against Iran over its controversial nuclear program.
