MOSCOW, August 23 (RIA Novosti) - One firefighter was killed by a blaze at an oil pumping station in west Siberia overnight, and two are still missing, Russia's emergencies ministry said on Sunday.
The fire broke out when a bolt of lightning struck oil reservoir number 7 in the Khanty-Mansi autonomous area at 13:05 GMT on Saturday. The fire then spread to five neighboring reservoirs.
Six other firefighters are injured, of whom four have been hospitalized with burns of varying severity. Firefighters are continuing to battle the flames, but the emergencies ministry says the fire is now under control.
A spokesman for state oil transit company Transneft told RIA Novosti that crude supplies from the region will not be affected.
