HANOI, November 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will reduce tariff rates on some commodities after it joins the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Russian economics minister said Sunday.

Russia and the United States signed November 19 a bilateral protocol at a summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) organization in Hanoi, paving the way for Russia's accession to the world trade club.

"Customs rates on industrial goods will go down by 3% on average and rates on agricultural product supplies will be reduced by about 3%," German Gref said after the signing of the Russia-U.S. final protocol on WTO entry.

Gref said Russia and the United States had reached agreement on 100 sectors of services during bilateral trade talks.

Gref also said the U.S. government had undertaken to guarantee the veterinary safety of pork and beef supplies to Russia in compliance with the requirements of the international veterinary watchdog.
