MOSCOW, December 26 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin is the most trusted politician in the country, according to a new poll conducted by the All-Russian Center for Public Opinion Study (VTsIOM) presented Monday at a news conference.
"To choose the politician of the year, Russians were asked to say who they trust most," VTsIOM General Director Valery Fyodorov said.
Putin tops the list, enjoying the trust of 45% of Russians. Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu is in second place with 14%, while controversial Liberal-Democrat Vladimir Zhirinovsky holds third place with 10%.
The poll was conducted in 153 settlements in 46 regions among 1,600 respondents aged 18 and older.
