MOSCOW, July 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin urged the government to accelerate improvements to the security of the state border in the North Caucasus, which borders on Georgia and Azerbaijan. "Considering the recent developments in Chechnya, we must implement everything that has been planned [military reinforcement] as soon as possible.

I am asking the government and the Finance Ministry to allocate the planned resources as they are required," President Putin said at a government session.

A police car was attacked and blown up in Chechnya's Nadterechny region Tuesday. The explosion killed 14 people and injured 24.

"You must make any necessary adjustments to these plans, so the tasks can be fulfilled as quickly as possible," Putin told Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref.

The president said the problem also concerned RAO UES Rossii, (Russia's energy monopoly), the natural gas giant Gazprom and the Transport Ministry.

Speaking to Vice Premier Alexander Zhukov, Putin said, "We must involve the Ministry of Transport. There are many infrastructure problems there, which must be properly resolved and as soon as possible."
