MOSCOW, July 5 (RIA Novosti) - Russia paid part of its debt to Germany, its main Paris Club creditor, ahead of schedule on Tuesday.
"On July 5, 2005, Vneshekonombank transferred a payment to Germany, Russia's main creditor, under the May 13, 2005, agreement between the Russian government and the governments of the Paris Club of creditor nations on the early payment of part of Russia's debt, thereby fulfilling the Russian finance ministry's instruction," reads a statement posted on the bank's web site.
The payment is the first under the agreement worth a total of $15 billion.
