Moscow, June 27 (RIA Novosti) - The Estonian authorities have not commented yet on the controversy surrounding the border treaty with Russia.

An Estonian Embassy spokesperson has confirmed reports that Estonian Ambassador Karin Jaani was summoned this morning to Russia's Foreign Ministry, where she was given a note of protest over the controversial treaty's ratification by the Estonian Parliament.

The note has been sent to the Estonian Foreign Ministry in Tallinn, with a reply expected later this week.

In its note, the Russian Foreign Ministry reportedly notifies Estonia of the beginning of intrastate procedures to relieve the country of its obligations assumed under border treaties with Estonia.

This leaves border demarcation between Russia and Estonia open, meaning further negotiations will have to be conducted to hash out the conflict.
