GROZNY, May 15 (RIA Novosti) - It is yet unclear whether one of insurgents recently destroyed in Grozny is Vakha Arsanov, Ichkerian prime minister under president Aslan Maskhadov, deputy state prosecutor for Chechnya Alexander Nikitin told RIA Novosti. He confirmed there was a special operation in Grozny's downtown Staropromyslovsky district, referring to "a report from the district prosecutor."

"Certainly, four insurgents were killed and their bodies were found at the scene but they were burnt beyond recognition by the face or limbs," he said. The house that the insurgents used as a shelter was set on fire, he said.

"No identification is possible until relevant, including genetic, tests are completed. We have no objective information as to the identification of these corpses," he said.

However, he said there might be some field reports, citing one of the destroyed insurgents identified as Arsanov, that he simply did not know about.

According to some previous reports, Vakha Arsanov was killed in Chechnya in the early hours of Sunday. Notably, deputy interior minister of Chechnya Sultan Satuyev said, "Local residents identified one of the killed [insurgents] as Vakha Arsanov. We found a passport on him, in the name of another man, though."
