While Belgium eventually made its way past Panama and Tunisia in the World Cup, ultimately winning Group G after England's loss, Japan extraordinarily made it into the round of 16 by receiving fewer yellow cards than Senegal, as well as leveraging their points, goal difference and head-to-head record.

The winner of the knockout match will face Brazil, which beat Mexico 2-0 earlier in the day, in a quarterfinal game in Kazan on Friday. Belgium's coach, Roberto Martinez, has organized the same line-up that crushed Tunisia 5-2, with one difference: Manchester City's defender Kompany playing instead of Dedryck Boyat.
