    TUESDAY: Former Italian PM Matteo Renzi, returns to the leadership of the Democratic Party; and the UK Government hits back at so-called “tittle-tattle”, as details of Brexit discussions between Theresa May and Jean Claude Juncker on Brexit leak to a German newspaper.

    Even by Italian standards it’s a political turn-around like no other. But will the re-election of Matteo Renzi to the leadership of the ruling Democratic Party signal a move away from its historic left-wing policies and prove a blow to the rise in populist sentiment in Italy? 

    The UK government have hit back at the European Commission following leaked information about commission President Jean Claude Juncker’s meeting with UK Prime Minister Theresa May last week to discuss Brexit negotiations. German Newspaper FAZ alleged that after the meeting Juncker had described the UK PM as  “living in another galaxy”
