Monday: How will Fidel Castro be remembered? Somali elections, an important step towards stability; and, we speak to the sister of Ibrahim Halawa, an Irish national currently being held in prison in Egypt and potentially facing the death penalty.

Following the death of Cuban President Fidel Castro many are reflecting on what legacy the Cuban revolution has left behind, not just for Cubans but the world. Former Scottish Socialist MSP, Colin Fox, who visited Cuba during the 1990s tells World in Focus that Castro’s legacy will endure and continue to inspire, despite a thawing of relations between the Caribbean Island and its longstanding enemy the United States.

The 2016 Somali presidential elections should be taking place in just 2 days times. Amid allegations of fraud and corruption within the electoral system, and with universal suffrage too dangerous a method to use, we look at what the 2016 elections mean for the security and stability of Somalia. Dr Laura Hammond from the University of London SOAS helps us unravel the complex electoral system.

Four decades after the historic and controversial Camp David treaty, are relations between Egypt and Israel closer than ever before? The two countries are working together on security and economic issues with some analysts saying that the two countries have reached a "full partnership and unbreakable alliance”. We hear from lecturer of Israeli and Middle Eastern studies Moshe Behar.

The Egyptian Government has refused to release a young Irishman arrested following violent protests in 2013 amid claims he has been tortured and now faces the death penalty. Ibrahim Halawa’s sister Somaia speaks to World in Focus about her family’s frustration with the Egyptian authorities and calls on Western Governments to exert more influence over their Middle Eastern ally. 

Britain’s attempts to leave the European Union face yet another hurdle as a new legal challenge has emerged arguing that the vote to leave the EU did not give the government a mandate to also leave the European Economic Area, or EEA.
