The United States’ drone warfare program may have been going strong in the Middle East for the last 8 years but now it has been revealed that US bases are opening across Africa; and, the European Parliament is facing criticism for welcoming more imports of US fracked gas.

Since US president Barack Obama took office, drones have become the tool of choice for US counter-terror policymakers. Most drone flights — both attack and surveillance — are carried out in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia. However,  the US is now shifting the focus of its drone strategy toward Africa, specifically Libya, where government forces are locked in a fierce fight to vanquish Da’esh insurgents. We speak to author Medea Benjamin about this.

As the European Parliament welcomes the import of more fracked gas from the United States, critics suggest that the move undermines the bloc's commitment to the Paris Agreement on climate change. We speak to Jamie Peters from Friends of the Earth.
