As the United Nations considers a resolution condemning the decades long US trade embargo on Cuba, we ask if there's any light at the end of the tunnel for those who want to see the blockade lifted; and, Gambia announce intentions to withdraw from ICC, just days after a similar announcement from South Africa.

The United States is expected to abstain today in response to a resolution brought to the United Nations by Bolivia and Cuba, calling for an end to the long running US embargo against the Caribbean Island. The US has consistently voted against such resolutions, so this could — in effect — place the White House at odds with the Republican dominated Congress. We speak to Sebastian Arcos, Associate Director of the Cuban Research Institute at Florida International University.

The small West African country of Gambia has announced its intention to depart from the International Criminal Court. There are worries that the move — which is not the first in the African continent in recent weeks — could mark the beginning of an exodus of African states from the court.  We speak to Professor Goran Sluiter, Professor of International Criminal Law at the University of Amsterdam.
