A number of high profile voices have come out in support of the Women's Boat to Gaza, and have urged Israeli authorities not to intercept. The passengers of the Zaytouna-Oliva include several parliamentarians, an Olympic athlete, Nobel Laureate, Mairead Maguire and the former US Diplomat, Ann Wright. But as the ship nears its destination, several reports suggest that the Israeli Navy has received instructions to intercept the boat. We speak to Synne Sofie Reksten, currently on board the boat.
Unrest continues in the Oromia region of Ethiopia following police intervention at a religious celebration on Sunday, which resulted in at least 52 confirmed deaths. Many human rights groups have put that figure much higher, at several hundred deaths, and the incident has fueled further anti-government sentiment among Oromo communities. We speak to Professor Ezekiel Gebissa, from Kettering University, and Felix Horne from Human Rights Watch.
