Following the weekend’s attacks in New York and New Jersey, politicians are all striking the same note--a tune that won’t actually help stem the threat of homegrown terrorism.

Both President Obama and Hillary Clinton pointed to the US bombing campaign against the Islamic State as a strategy to prevent terrorism stateside. And although their statements were more coherent than the GOP nominee, Donald Trump, they still miss the mark on what’s actually motivating domestic attacks.
