People and their cars – this is a relationship in a class all its own. A car is personalized. People name their cars, attribute emotions to them. And although we may choose our cars for practical reasons such as fuel economy, safety, and price, there is no denying the emotional factors such as vanity and pride.

In our day and age, the car has become so much more than an inanimate object providing individual transportation. Without it, we feel incomplete and inadequate in the urban surroundings. Studies show that people personalize their vehicles, attributing various emotions to their cars. Can man today live without owning a car and not be considered eccentric or a bit of an outcast? On this edition of Looking Forward, Svetlana Ekimenko and acclaimed Russian writer Victor Erofeyev are joined by two experts: Chris Ebbs, consumer editor at Autoexpress, UK, and Jason Torchinsky, associate editor at auto blog jalopnik.com, US, to reflect on the complex relationship people have with their cars.
