Delicate Art of Diplomacy

What does it take to be a diplomat? Being a diplomat is not as easy, as one might think. A professional diplomat is more than just a knowledgeable person, who knows everything about his own country and the country he works in. In order to be successful, you have to be a man with a number of very crucial personal traits. This includes: the ability to talk, even if the situation is worse than ever; the ability to influence and make a good impression; to be flexible and ready for a compromise and so forth.

But even that is not enough. To go far, you need love – love for your own country and, again, for the country you work in. Not a “marriage of convenience”, but love and appreciation of the world’s diversity.
