A wild week of US soldiers on vacation being heroes when they stopped a terrorist attack ended on a sour note when a decorated US soldier was let go because he stood up to a woman beater and child rapist. Good soldiers that can’t stand the machine that Obama has built are leaving while those left behind are best called “yes men” in polite company.

As the high speed train was barreling down the track, people noticed one of the passengers was a little bit strange. Muttering to himself as walked into the bathroom with a large black bag, the people were happy that he was gone, if only for a minute. Once he was inside the restroom, the man whipped out his phone and watched one last “inspirational” movie as he unzipped the bag, pulled out the guns, and loaded the magazines. Once he was ready, he emerged from the bathroom, shouted at the top of his voice, and began pointing his weapon at the passengers and even let off a volley or two. Upon hearing the screams, two men quickly assessed the situation and instantaneously decided on a course of unspoken action. One man shouted- “go!” and they both raced down the aisle. The first guy went high, the second went low. The terrorist didn’t stand a chance as our two heroes wrestled the guns away and hogtied the would-be killer, but not before the psychopath was able to pull a knife and cut one of the young men several times. Now, you might be thinking that this is some kind of 80s action movie, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone, but no, this event was real.

Earlier this week, USA Today reported that — “A young Moroccan armed with a Kalashnikov and a knife was subdued by three Americans on a high-speed train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris Friday.” Two of those Americans were soldiers on holiday, and in their own words, one said — “…we saw a gunman entering the carriage with an automatic rifle, then we heard a gunshot and we heard glass breaking behind us and saw a train employee sprint past us down the aisle”. He continued by saying- “As he was cocking it to shoot it, I yelled: ‘Spencer, go!’ and Spencer runs down the aisle…Spencer makes first contact, and tackles the guy, Alek wrestles the gun away from him, and the gunman pulls out a box cutter and slices Spencer a few times. And the three of us beat him until he was unconscious.” But we aren’t finished yet. After tying the gunman up, one of the heroes “…quickly turned to help another passenger who had been wounded in the throat, stopping his bleeding until paramedics came.” Reflecting upon the event, one of the young American men said, “I’m just a college student. I came to see my friends for my first trip to Europe and we stop a terrorist. It’s kind of crazy.” But our story doesn’t stop there.

Once news of the incident reached the highest levels in France, the French Interior Minister, rushed to the scene and awarded the men with medals. Specifically, he noted that — “…the US passengers were particularly courageous and showed great bravery in very difficult circumstances”. He continued by saying — “Without their sangfroid, we could have been confronted with a terrible drama.” He described the incident as an act of “barbaric violence”. The French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, also expressed his gratitude to the soldiers.

Not all news about US soldiers this week was as glowing though. Back in Massachusetts, one highly decorated Green Beret has found himself in a bit of trouble that all began back in 2011. At the time, the soldier was serving overseas, in Afghanistan. His mission was to train local police officers, but in their off-time, the soldiers began hearing stories that the police were raping civilians. The Boston news times reported that- “One day at their remote outpost, a young Afghan boy and his Afghan-Uzbek mother showed up at camp. The 12-year-old showed the Green Berets where his hands had been tied. A medic took him to a back room for an examination with an interpreter, who told them the boy had been raped by a commander by the name of Abdul Rahman. After learning of the meeting that the mother had with the US soldiers, that very same Afghan commander beat the boy's mother for reporting the crime. It was at this point that the Green Berets had had enough and went to confront Rahman.”

The Military times quoted the US soldier as saying — “The Afghan police recruit confessed to the crime and laughed about it, and said it wasn't a big deal. Even when we patiently explained how serious the charge was, he kept laughing.” In an attempt to get their point across that rape was wrong, the American soldiers shoved Abdul Rahman to the ground. One soldier was quoted as saying — “As a man, as the father of a young boy myself, I felt obliged to step in to prevent further rapes from occurring”. Now, apparently, the Afghan police officer walked away, unharmed, but our story doesn’t end there. Instead of thinking about what he had done, the Afghan simply went to another group of US soldiers and reported the incident. And what was the response? Well, the next day, a US Army helicopter landed, and took the offending soldiers away, sending them off to another place in the dark of the night. But that’s not all.

To make a long story short, the two soldiers were given temporary jobs and then fired. That’s right. They were kicked out the military for standing up to a known serial child rapist, a man that beat a mother for trying to protect her young child and for defending an innocent boy. One of the soldiers had had enough of the Obama administration’s political correctness and quietly left, the other man decided to stand up to the machine. He fought way through court, and although he is a highly decorated soldier with a spotless record, he is being discharged from the United States Army on November 1st. A pundit noted — “It's sad to think that a child rapist is put above one of our elite military operators. The Sergeant was left with no other choice but to intervene in a bad situation… The Army should stand up for what's right and should not side with a corrupt Afghan police officer.”

And that really is the state of things in Obama’s military today. After purging thousands of officers and enlisted men that didn’t quite fit his vision, America today is left with yes men. Not necessarily men with morals, but soldiers that will do what they are told in order to get ahead. And in this world devoid of principles, we are left scratching our heads. In what clearly should be a case of rewarding a soldier who was standing up for the weak, the oppressed, and the powerless, we are left in a world where a child rapist, a woman beater and person that abused their position is left in power to further perpetuate horrible crimes.

So, what do you think dear listeners, “Is this the good, the bad, and the ugly?”
