Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said that China calls on the United States to halt the "wrongful" practice of imposing unilateral restrictive measures against Chinese entities for their alleged ties with North Korea.

BEIJING (Sputnik) China calls on the United States to halt the "wrongful" practice of imposing unilateral restrictive measures against Chinese entities for their alleged ties with North Korea, as such moves hamper bilateral cooperation, China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Wednesday.

"We oppose any unilateral sanctions outside the framework of the UN Security Council, in particular, when other countries on the basis of their domestic legislation impose sanctions against Chinese companies or nationals. Our position on this matter is consistent and clear," Hua said at the press briefing.

The spokeswoman underlined that China has been fully implementing the UNSC resolutions, as well as other international commitments.

"The US methods do not promote the resolution of the problem and do not foster mutual trust and cooperation between the United States and China. The Chinese side urges the US side to stop using this wrongful method," Hua added.

The official stressed that if Chinese companies violated UNSC resolutions, the country's authorities would conduct their own investigation into said violations.

On Tuesday, the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control introduced new sanctions against 10 entities, including Chinese ones, for violating UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions on North Korea. Under the latest sanctions, properties and interests belonging to the designated persons within the United States would be blocked and US citizens prohibited from dealing with them.
