Russian Citizens Detained in Kosovo Released After Paying Fines

Russian citizens detained on Tuesday in Kosovo were released on Wednesday after paying fines, Natalya Shepeleva, a daughter of one of the detained persons, told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Tuesday, five Serbians and six Russians, who were visiting their relatives, were detained in an attempt to illegally cross the border of Kosovo. Earlier on Wednesday, Serbia strongly condemned the incident and demanded to release all the detained persons while the Russian Foreign Ministry said told Sputnik that Moscow was following the development of the situation

“Today, a hearing took place, each person paid a 250-euro [about $300] fine and was released,” Shepeleva said.

She said that an underage girl, who was among the detained people, had been released before the hearing. After the release the Russian citizens are going to continue their trip and to visit their relatives.

Shepeleva added that the Russian citizens paid 3,000 euro to lawyers, who did nothing after getting the money.
