Is Mark Zuckerberg feeling presidential? Critics seem to think so, since the Facebook CEO and his wife Priscilla Chan chose to hire the Democratic pollster Joel Benenson as a consultant.

According to Politico, Benenson’s company, Benenson Strategy Group, will actually be doing some research for the couple’s philanthropic project, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, whose motto is "advancing human potential and promoting equality."

Benenson was the former top adviser to then-US President Barack Obama and the chief strategist to Hillary Clinton’s doomed 2016 presidential campaign, but the familiar faces don’t stop there.

Back in January the couple also hired David Plouffe, a campaign manager for Obama’s 2008 presidential run, and Amy Dudley, a former communications adviser to Clinton’s running mate, Virginia Senator Tim Kaine.

Even though the rumors are still being denied, Zuckerberg’s 50-state tour isn’t helping to quell the gossip.

"After a tumultuous last year, my hope for this challenge is to get out and talk to more people about how they’re living, working and thinking about the future," Zuckerberg announced prior to his nationwide meet-and-greet.

Anyone else noting the striking similarities to the “thank you tour” US President Donald Trump took?

Is Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg Planning a Run for the White House?
While Zuckerberg and Chan say they’ll give away 99 percent of their Facebook shares — estimated $45 billion —  to charity, it’s getting a little harder to deny they might be dipping their toes into the political waters of Washington, DC.

"Some of you have asked if this challenge means I’m running for public office," Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page. "I'm not."

We hear you Zuckerberg. But can we trust you?
