The Trump administration is planning to impose new sanctions against Iran over Tehran’s ballistic missile program and alleged support for terrorism, US media reported on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The new sanctions are not nuclear-related and do not violate the nuclear agreement with Iran, Free Beacon reported citing a US official.

The official added that the United States is looking into new military- and policy-oriented efforts against Iran’s alleged illicit activities.

On June 15, the US Senate passed a bill targeting Russia and Iran with new sanctions. The legislation still awaits a vote at the US House of Representatives.
