WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President Donald Trump said that he would invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the White House at "the right time," according to a transcript released by the White House on Thursday.

"I don't think that this is the right time, but the answer is yes, I would," Trump told reporters on Air Force One as they flew to France on Wednesday.

Trump added that a dialogue with the Russian government is necessary.

Putin and Trump held their first face-to-face meeting at G20 in Hamburg, Germany on June 7.
