US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a joint press conference in Jerusalem.

Trump said on Monday that he expects a new level of international partnership in an effort to curb terrorism.

"America welcomes the action and support of any nation willing to do the hard but vital work in eradicating the violent ideologies that have caused so much needless bloodshed and killing here and all over the world," Trump stated. "I believe that a new level of partnership is possible and will happen."

The president added the new partnership would bring greater safety to the Middle East and greater security to the United States.

"This includes a renewed effort at peace between Israelis and the Palestinians," Trump said.

Trump arrived in Israel with an official visit on Monday morning as part of his first foreign tour as President of the United States.

Trump's visit to Israel will last through Tuesday. The president is expected to meet Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in Bethlehem in the central West Bank on Tuesday.

The president will discuss bilateral relations and Israeli-Palestinian conflict with both leaders separately.

On Sunday, Trump participated in the Arab Islamic American Summit held in the Saudi capital along with the leaders of the Muslim-majority countries. During the meetings with Saudi King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Trump addressed the issues related to countering terrorism.

"I am encouraged that they [Saudi Arabia] pledged cooperation to confront terrorism and the hateful ideology that drives it so hard," Trump stated.

In his address in Jerusalem, Trump praised the Saudi king’s efforts in eliminating Daesh. Trump also noted that extremism spread into "too many parts of the Muslim world" and urged immediate actions.

On May 24, Trump will travel to Rome.
