Turkish Fighter Jets Violate Greek Airspace Over Aegean Sea
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Imia, or Kardak, is a pair of two uninhabited islets in the Aegean Sea, disputed between Greece and Turkey. After the military crisis over the sovereignty of the islands occurred in 1996, the European Parliament adopted a resolution backing EU member state Greece and calling on Turkey to settle all disputes by peaceful means.

"If there is an undesired accident, it will not be possible to correct it," Cavusoglu wrote in his comment published in Turkish Hurriyet daily, as cited by the Kathimerini newspaper.

The foreign minister also accused Greece of "doing provocative things for a long time," adding that Athens used the Imia islets to "escalate tensions."

"Points of disagreement between two countries should be resolved with dialogue," he said.
