TOKYO (Sputnik) – On Thursday, Putin held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in the city of Nagato in Yamaguchi Prefecture. The two will continue talks on Friday in Tokyo.
At least 10 intergovernmental agreements are expected to be signed on Friday, in addition to up to 15 commercial ones.
About 50 business contracts are expected to be signed on the sidelines of the Russian-Japanese business forum that Putin and Abe are expected to attend on Friday.
Putin’s visit to Japan on December 15-16 is widely seen as a breakthrough in Russia-Japan relations taking into account that it had been postponed since 2014.
