MOSCOW (Sputnik) — North Korea lambasted the United States on Tuesday over a resolution urging Pyongyang to facilitate the reunion of Korean American families, calling it "an outrage," media reported.
The resolution passed the US Senate on Saturday and was ratified by the House of Representatives in early December.
"That the United States is the agent responsible for slicing our territory in half, and with the threat of the atomic bomb has created the problems of millions of separated Korean families, for the United States to say something or other about scattered families and the reunion of relatives is an outrage," the UPI news agency quoted North Korea's statement.
The resolution was introduced particularly to protect rights of the elderly Korean Americans who were separated from families during the 1950-1953 Korean War.
