TOKYO (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin called for creation of an atmosphere of trust, friendship and cooperation with Japan, as well as development of trade and economic relations.
"It is necessary to create an atmosphere of trust, friendship of cooperation between our countries," Putin told the Nippon TV channel.
The Russian president urged for improvement of the countries’ trade and economic relations.
Russia and Japan do not presently have a basic framework on which they could build relations which would satisfy the wishes of both countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Starting from 1956, when [our] diplomatic relations were restored, up until today we have not had a basic framework on which we could build relations which would correspond to our countries and which would correspond to what is needed today in terms of bilateral relations," Putin told the Nippon TV channel.
